September 20-21, 2014 (weekend of historic activism - press release)

This will be a weekend of historic activism in NYC where on Saturday you can be at a City Hall Rally/Protest FOR the Animals and on Sunday 9/21, The People's Climate March, the largest in history, to demand action on Climate Change.

Leaders of the Climate change rally will be at our rally, Saturday, and we in turn have committed to theirs on Sunday.

Mass City Hall Protest and Rally to End the Killing of Cats and Dogs in NYC!
Contact: Kay Riviello, President of No Kill New York, Inc. (501(c)3 Nonprofit) Host, kay@radicalphotos.com ; (845) 856-7366

Who: Kay Riviello Rally/Protest organizer and founder of New York Animal Rights Alliance America with over 10,000 members nationwide, and 300 to 500 activists and animal lovers attending, dressed in red

What: Activists and animal lovers gather and rise up in protest against the city's failure to address atrocities committed by New York City Animal Care & Control under the auspices of the Department of Health and to present our agenda to the NYC Council and Mayor DeBlasio, whom we believe need our support to initiate the following revolutionary changes:
  • Cease and desist from the killing of cats and dogs at New York City Animal Care & Control (NYC ACC).
  • Repeal 0655/059 and Build True No-Kill Shelters in Queens & the Bronx, boroughs that have upwards of two million people each and no animal shelters
  • Rescind the Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) mandate in which the Public Housing Authority prohibits dogs over 25 pounds (and certain breeds) and rescind the draconian dog/cat limit to one companion animal. BSL is in violation of NY State Law
  • Provide free and low-cost spay neuter for the citizens of NY and their companion animals. Such a program would save tax dollars with a True No Kill Shelter system in the long run, and is the only humane and morally acceptable solution for current homeless animal problems
  • Stronger enforcement of all animal cruelty laws by the New York City Police Department, with augmented special units throughout the five boroughs. Assist the Dept of Agriculture to arrest "backyard breeders."
When: Saturday, September 20, 2014, Noon to 3:00pm
Where: Steps of City Hall
Why: No Kill New York, Inc. demands change and plans to file a lawsuit against the Department of Health because of:
  • the incompetence and failure of a tax-payer funded municipal entity
  • the deplorable conditions at NYC ACC, where @100% of all animals get sick and lack of appropriate veterinary care
  • animal cruelty and negligence with wrongful death, which we believe should lead to criminal charges against certain individuals that have operated with impunity in this system, unchecked for far too long.
  • We are an animal rights organization and seek for nothing less than that cats and dogs have certain legal rights in a court of law
  • Additionally, we seek to have the criminal horse carriage industry dismantled immediately. The horses are forced to work many long hours in one of the most congested cities, with inadequate food and water, in all kinds of heat and cold, and horrific living conditions
  • We also advocate for a ban on the USDA-led slaughter of geese, swans and crows, as well as the protection of pigeons and stronger legislation to protect all animals in our city
