Bellingham WA: Tidal events. Plus: Ecology Cleanup Update - Dec 6 night fieldwork at South State Street MGP (Boulevard Park)

The short video by sinatra314 on YouTube that explains current tide conditions (and all sinatra314 videos concerning recent catastrophic weather) is brief and very informative for the "ordinary citizen."

Coincidental with learning of these interesting high tides this week, I received an update about fieldwork at the north end of Boulevard Park scheduled for today and this evening. There is a lot of scientific information with pictures on the various Department of Ecology web pages about the cleanup effort.

Greetings,

You are receiving this email notice because of your interest in the Department of Ecology's Bellingham Bay cleanup activities.

The northern portion of Boulevard Park is also the South State Street Manufactured Gas Plant cleanup site - so named for its industrial past.

On Monday, December 6, City of Bellingham consultants will be in Boulevard Park to sample sediment underwater for the cleanup site as they continue their planned fieldwork, called a pre-remedial design investigation. You shouldn't notice anything different or unusual, other than scientists entering the site on foot with hand-held equipment and flashlights during the evening hours from 10 p.m. to the early morning.

For more information, please visit Ecology's cleanup site webpage or visit our blog "Cleaning up: Fieldwork at a beloved Bellingham waterfront park."

A portion of Boulevard Park on the Bellingham waterfront is also a cleanup site (click image for video)
