Global: 100th Birthday Tribute - Commemorate Doris Day!

Spay Day was initiated by Doris Day in the 90s. I remember the very first time I dove into social media was when I circulated a flyer about Spay Day. Some years later I remember receiving this nice letter (at end of post) and great photo from Doris Day.

Doris Day passed in 2019. April 3, 2022 would have been the 100th birthday. #DorisDay100 is the hashtag and friends are invited to share their memories of her on social media, and join the #challenge. The Doris Day Animal Foundation continues to help pet guardians,  #pets, #wildlife, and more. Read about the DDAF in their letter herebelow and about their many projects at https://www.dorisdayanimalfoundation.org

Dear Liz:

It's time to celebrate! Doris may no longer be with us, but her uplifting music, film, TV and animal welfare legacy have made the world a better place. To celebrate Doris' centennial, fans and animal lovers across the globe are uniting to #honor Doris by making a difference for the cause closest to her heart—the #animals.

Today kicks off a social media challenge for Doris' April 3rd birthday. Share your love for Doris and demonstrate how you're carrying on her legacy by uploading a photo or video with the hashtag #DorisDay100 on your favorite platform, make a donation in her honor to ddaf.org, and challenge at least two others to do the same. Ideas for photos and videos include your pet, a favorite Doris moment, song or film, or a combination of them all. DDAF will search for the top creative or innovative entries to highlight on our own social media platforms and share with media.

The #DorisDay100 challenge begins today, April 1st, with a goal of raising at least $100,000. DDAF will match public #donations with another $100,000 to specifically benefit animals affected by the #Ukrainian crisis. This is your chance to join fans and supporters all over the world to celebrate Doris and be a hero for the animals.

When you visit ddaf.org to make your donation, check out our #video of support messages (past and present) from Doris' friends and animal-loving celebrities, including Betty White, Tony Bennett, Carol Burnett, Dick Van Dyke, Olivia Newton-John, Allison Janney and Kaley Cuoco, who will be portraying Doris in an upcoming Warner Brothers television project.

Have fun with the challenge, and thank you for helping us make what would have been Doris' 100th birthday special and memorable.
