| | | Wonderful Wildlife Releases — Just in time for independence Day!
| | | Release day is the best day! There is nothing quite like watching an animal we've cared for in the Wildlife Hospital find his or her freedom and return to the wild.
Just in time for Independence Day on July 4, we wanted to share a collection of some of our favorite releases. You've met some of these patients in our eNews stories (like the Red-tail with the injured eye you met last March), but some of these releases will be new to you.
It's cause for celebration every time our team has the opportunity to return a patient to the wild. Especially when the animal's journey back to health has been long and arduous, the heart-lifting moment of freedom brings tears to our eyes every time!
Watch some of our favorite videos and celebrate Independence Day for these, and all the animals WildCare is able to give a second chance at life in the wild!

These are truly unique volunteer opportunities and now is the time to apply!
Volunteers in the Wildlife Hospital help us provide care for over 3,500 ill, injured and orphaned wild animals.
Wildlife Hospital Volunteers learn species identification, hygiene and safety precautions and protocols, proper diet and food preparation, and proper handling techniques. Hospital staff and volunteers work to provide comprehensive diagnoses and treatments for our patients, always with the goal of releasing them back to the wild. Everyone works together to accommodate the feeding, cleaning and medication requirements of each patient.
Begin by watching our New Volunteer Orientation video and then complete an application!
Our Wildlife Ambassador Volunteers help care for the nonreleasable educational animals in WildCare's Courtyard and Museum.
WildCare is home to 14 Wildlife Ambassadors. These animals can no longer survive in the wild and now serve as ambassadors for their species, educating thousands of Bay Area children and adults each year.
They require daily feeding, care, enrichment, and training to provide them the best life possible, and this, along with educating the public about these amazing animals, is the job of our Wildlife Ambassador Volunteers!
